It is a perfect catalyst to facilitate an engaging change process with people and establish a stronger foundation for successful change management. It helps tackle the challenges of change.
What is Changeability Assessment?
The Changeability Assessment is a diagnostic tool to audit your organization’s capability and readiness for change. It evaluates how people experience the organization across the five Changeability dimensions in conjunction with their perceived environmental context. The result provides data to identify gaps and opportunities that help its users to generate insights for their organizational development and strategic decisions for change. It is based on the premise that agile, high-performing companies are capable to respond to their external environment and can be internally structured to change quickly and effectively. Based on Professor Michael Jarrett’s research conducted with more than 255 strategic business units across multiple industries, the questions are psychometrically-validated and carefully designed to deliver an insightful organizational diagnosis. To date, the Changeability Assessment has been taken by more than 300 organizations (and 50,000+ participants) worldwide.
About Changeability Assessment
The Changeability Assessment measures the five key factors essential to organizational change in people’s collective experience and perception of the organization.
The five Changeability factors include:
Strategic Scanning (SS)
Leadership Insights (LI)
Openness and Innovation (OI)
Positive Dynamics (PD)
Cohesive Structures (CS)
The scores across the five factors are result from like-for-like comparisons with normed data to produce the Changeability Index score. This score indicates the Change Readiness profile among three types: Avoiders, Analysers, and Adapters. It informs you about dominant tendencies or patterns that might be present in your organization and implication for strategic change leadership.
Avoiders
Avoiders find it difficult to change. Any changes tend to be blocked, resisted or are temporary. Organisations with this profile do not like change - inertia rules.
Analysers
Analysers have a mixed readiness to change. They prefer incremental change. During periods of external turbulence, a vicious cycle of analysis-paralysis may prevail.
Adapters
Adapters can thrive on change and are therefore able to strengthen their capability through practice. These organisations have internal procedures and processes that help them perceive change and adapt quickly.
Changeability Fit
The other part of Changeability Assessment is to examine how people perceive the environmental context which produces data about Environmental Volatility. Based on externally referenced volatility measures, it measures the level of external change.
Integrated scores from these two parts determine, namely, Changeability Fit, that indicates how your organization’s capability and readiness to change fits the environmental context you are facing. There are four types of zones: Steady State Zone, Risk Zone, Comfort Zone, Dynamic Zone. It informs where your organization stands on, indicating whether your organization’s capabilities are adequate to respond to the environmental context, and the strategic implications that go with it.
The Changeability Report includes a number of additional features that are useful to generate strategic insights for organizational change.
